How to Care for Designer Boots
A simple care routine can help keep designer boots in good condition. Start with the maker's instructions: smooth leather, suede, nubuck, patent leather and decorated finishes need different products and methods.
Let Boots Dry Between Wears
Give boots time to air out after wearing them, particularly if the lining feels damp. Rotating pairs allows moisture from perspiration to dry naturally.
If boots become wet, let them dry naturally at room temperature away from radiators, hair dryers and other direct heat. Use correctly fitting shoe trees or boot supports to help maintain their shape without forcing the leather.
Choose Care Products for the Material
Remove loose dust with a suitable soft brush. For compatible smooth leather, choose a cleaner, conditioner or polish recommended for the finish and apply it according to its directions. Test a small hidden area first; some products can darken leather or alter its appearance.
Suede and nubuck need their own brushes and care products. Avoid using ordinary smooth-leather wax polish on these finishes. Browse our suede and nubuck care products, or ask us before treating a delicate or unfamiliar material.
Check Fit, Heels and Soles
If a boot feels tight around the foot or calf, do not force it or assume repeated wear will solve the problem. Our shoe stretching service can assess suitable options; the material and construction determine what adjustment is possible.
Check heels and soles for uneven wear, loose parts or damage. Ask for a repair assessment before wear reaches surrounding components. Repair options depend on the boot's construction and condition.
