Handbag Repair & Restoration in Oakville

A broken zipper, loose strap or worn corner needs a different repair from faded leather. Bring your handbag to ShoeMedic in Oakville, or send photographs so we can assess the problem before you commit to the work.

Your repair options

What needs attention on your bag?

The condition around the damage matters as much as the damaged part itself.

What to show us

Zipper trouble

Tell us whether the slider sticks, the teeth separate or the zipper tape is torn.

Straps and handles

Show the damaged strap and where it attaches to the bag.

Seams and corners

Include a wider photograph so we can see the material around a loose seam or worn corner.

What we assess

Repair or replacement

A zipper problem may need a different solution from a complete replacement. Parts and access affect what is possible.

Supporting material

A strap repair depends on the condition of both the strap and the material holding it.

Cosmetic improvement

Cleaning or colour work may improve surface wear. It does not replace missing material or resolve every structural problem.

What to consider before repairing a handbag

Decide what matters most: a working closure, a usable handle, less visible wear, or a combination. A practical repair and a close cosmetic match can involve different work.

Tell us if retaining original hardware, stitching or colour is important to you. Suitable replacement parts may differ from the originals, and proprietary designer hardware may be unavailable. Extensive reconstruction needs individual assessment and may be outside the work we can offer.

If the surrounding material is badly deteriorated or several areas need repair, compare the proposed outcome and quote with whether you would use the bag again. We cannot promise an invisible repair or a like-new finish.

Photographs to include with your assessment

Include the whole bag, each damaged area, nearby seams and strap attachments. For a zipper or clasp, show both sides where accessible. Tell us about previous repairs and products applied.

How It Works

Assessment, approval and repair

The final scope, quote and estimated timing follow physical inspection.

  1. Show us the problem

Visit with your bag or send photographs of the damage, nearby seams and attachments for an initial review.
  2. Agree on the work

We explain the proposed work, its limitations, price and estimated timing. Work begins after approval; mail-in work also requires payment.
