Tarrago Self Shine Shoe Color Dye Kit

Tarrago Self Shine Color Dye Kit is a water-based, high-coverage dye for changing or restoring colour on smooth leather, synthetic leather and canvas shoes and garments. It can change even black to white, cover minor scuffs and scratches, and leave a flexible, friction-resistant shiny finish that does not require polishing.

How to use

Prepare the surface

• Smooth leather: Rub the surface with a used green scrubbing fibre or a cloth soaked with the included Tarrago Preparer/Deglazer to remove the previous finish.
• Synthetic leather: Apply the included Preparer/Deglazer to a cloth and rub the surface.
• Canvas: Wash with water and soap. Apply one or two coats before the canvas is completely dry, following the application steps below.

Apply the colour

1. Stir the dye with the supplied brush until the colour is completely even.
2. Use the semi-drained brush for seams, the joint between the sole and upper, scratches, trim and other detailed areas.
3. Apply one or two thin coats with one side of the sponge, working gently in circular motions. Add a third coat only if needed.
4. As the sponge becomes nearly dry, tap the surface lightly to even the colour. Let each coat dry before applying the next.
5. Rinse the sponge and brush with water immediately after use.
6. Allow 12 hours for optimal final drying and resistance.

Colour and application note

Use thin layers rather than one heavy coat. Tarrago advises that two or three thin layers produce a dye-like result while helping the leather remain soft and flexible. On-screen colours are a guide only; test the selected colour on a small, inconspicuous area before treating the entire item. The final result depends on the material, original colour and surface preparation.
