Boot Black Smooth Leather Handbag Care Kit
For colourfast, finished smooth-leather handbags only. Read the leather compatibility guide before use.
A ShoeMedic-assembled kit for cleaning, conditioning and protecting compatible leather handbags, wallets and accessories with genuine Boot Black products.
Check your leather before use
Confirm the material and finish from the handbag maker’s product details and care instructions. Pebbled or grained texture alone does not establish suitability. A product being colourless does not make it suitable for every leather or finish.
Do not apply the products if the material or finish is unknown. Ask the bag maker or contact ShoeMedic with the material details and photographs before treatment.
Do not use this complete kit on
- Suede, nubuck or roughout
- Patent leather, reptile or other exotic leather
- Unprotected aniline leather, nappa or delicate lambskin
- Unfinished vegetable-tanned leather, including natural vachetta
- Metallic or pearlescent finishes, printed designs, painted artwork or other specialty finishes
- Fabric, coated canvas, synthetic leather or mixed-material areas
These limits apply to the complete routine. The protector alone has broader uses than the cleaner and conditioner. Check each material separately; a suitable leather panel does not establish suitability for contrasting trims.
What’s included
- Boot Black Two Face Plus Smooth Leather Cleaner — 100 mL
- Boot Black Rich Moisture Leather Conditioner — 100 mL
- Boot Black Waterproof Spray — 180 mL aerosol
- Boot Black Cotton Polish Cloths — the full pack of three cloths, each approximately 15 × 50 cm
1. Test the complete routine first
Use a very small concealed area of the same leather and finish. Test the cleaner, let it dry, then test the conditioner and let it dry fully before gentle buffing. Finally test the protector according to its label and let it dry fully. Check for unwanted darkening, colour or texture changes, loss of finish, tackiness and leather colour transferring to a clean, dry cloth. Continue only if the result is satisfactory; stop if any unwanted change occurs.
Start with a dry bag and gently remove loose dust using a clean, dry cloth. Keep products off linings, hardware, edge paint, decorative details and unsuitable trims. Protect the surrounding work surface.
2. Clean with Two Face Plus
This cleaner removes dirt and old cream and can affect delicate colour or finishes. Use it only where cleaning is needed, sparingly and without repeated scrubbing.
- Shake the bottle thoroughly until both phases combine into a uniformly milky lotion.
- Put a small amount onto the first soft cotton cloth. Never pour the cleaner directly onto the bag.
- Wipe gently with light pressure and a clean cloth area. Do not soak the leather.
- Allow the leather to dry, then lightly buff with a clean cloth area before conditioning.
If a stain remains, stop and seek advice instead of adding more cleaner or rubbing harder.
3. Condition with Rich Moisture
- On clean, dry leather, use the second cloth to spread a very thin, even layer.
- Allow the cream to dry fully before buffing. Follow the bottle’s directions; drying time varies with the material and amount applied.
- Gently buff with the third clean cloth. Buffing too soon can leave tackiness.
Rich Moisture is colourless conditioning care. It does not recolour faded leather or repair scratches, peeling coatings or damaged finishes.
4. Apply protection last
- Wait until the previous treatments are fully dry.
- Use the aerosol outdoors, away from heat, sparks and flames. Do not breathe the mist.
- Shake well and apply a light, even coating from the distance specified on the can. Do not saturate the leather or spray unsuitable trims.
- Allow the bag to dry completely before handling or use, following the aerosol label.
Protection helps reduce water, oil and dirt penetration; it does not make a handbag waterproof. Follow all container handling and storage instructions and keep products out of children’s reach.
