Saphir Médaille d’Or Smooth Leather Handbag Care Kit
For compatible finished smooth-leather handbags only. Read the leather compatibility guide below before use.
Care for your handbag with three genuine Saphir Médaille d’Or products for light surface cleaning, conditioning and water-and-stain protection.
What’s included
- Saphir Médaille d’Or Leather Lotion — 125 mL
- Saphir Médaille d’Or Super Invulner — 300 mL aerosol
- One Saphir Médaille d’Or rectangular cotton cloth
Check your handbag’s leather first
Confirm the material and finish from the bag maker’s product details and care instructions. This kit is for finished smooth leather. Pebbled or grained texture alone does not establish suitability; use on these finishes only when the maker confirms this care is suitable. “Genuine leather”, colour and brand name do not identify the finish.
If the material or finish is unknown, do not apply the products. Ask the bag maker or contact ShoeMedic with the material details and photographs before treatment.
Do not use this complete kit on
- Unprotected aniline leather, nappa or lambskin
- Untreated vegetable-tanned leather, including natural vachetta
- Suede, nubuck or roughout leather
- Patent, metallic, pearlescent, painted artwork or other specialty finishes
- Exotic leathers, including reptile and ostrich
- Coated canvas, fabric, synthetic leather or mixed-material areas
These are the restrictions for the complete routine, even though the protector alone has broader uses. Saphir recommends separate Nappa Cream for unprotected aniline and delicate nappa leather; it is not included.
Test the complete routine on a hidden area
Test a very small concealed area of the same leather and finish, such as a discreet part of the base. Apply a little Lotion, let it dry fully and buff gently. Then test the protector on that area according to its label and let it dry fully. Check for unwanted darkening, colour or texture changes, loss of finish, tackiness and leather colour transferring to a clean, dry cloth. Continue only if the result is satisfactory. Stop if any unwanted change occurs. Test contrasting trims separately; one successful test does not establish suitability for every part of a bag.
Step-by-step care
- Prepare: work on dry leather. Gently remove loose dust using a clean, soft cloth. Keep products off hardware, edge paint, linings and unsuitable trims.
- Apply Leather Lotion: put a small amount onto a clean section of the MDO cotton cloth. Spread gently and evenly; avoid soaking, heavy application or aggressive rubbing.
- Dry and buff: allow approximately 10–15 minutes to dry, then buff gently with a separate clean section of the cloth. Ensure the leather is fully dry.
- Protect last: shake Super Invulner. Spray lightly and evenly from approximately 20 cm in a well-ventilated area without saturating the leather. Keep mist off unsuitable trims. Allow at least 30 minutes to dry and wait until fully dry before using the bag.
Follow all product-label precautions. Do not inhale the spray mist. Keep the aerosol away from heat, sparks and flames.
What this kit does
Leather Lotion conditions and removes light surface dirt; Super Invulner helps repel water and stains. The kit does not repair scratches, restore worn colour or remove every stain. Avoid repeated heavy cleaning of stubborn marks; contact us for advice.
Assembled by ShoeMedic: three individually packaged Médaille d’Or products, including one cotton cloth. No outer presentation box is included.
Shipping: contains an aerosol; availability depends on destination and carrier restrictions.
